MEXS Vertriebs GmbH is a joint venture between Keller & Kalmbach and LAW NDT – two leading companies in their respective industries. Keller & Kalmbach is the market leader in fastening technology and a specialist in C-parts management. For over 140 years, the company has been supplying the industrial and automotive sectors with high-quality fasteners and innovative logistics solutions. With a strong international presence, Keller & Kalmbach offers intelligent and innovative supply concepts for maximum efficiency and process reliability. LAW NDT represents over 36 years of testing technology expertise. As a systems provider for automation solutions, LAW NDT develops customized solutions for non-destructive testing procedures, assembly, and joining technology. The company is known for customized measuring and testing systems that enable precise quality assurance at the highest level.

The Initiators – Entrepreneurial Experience

MEXS Vertriebs GmbH was founded by Dipl.-Ing. Reza Mahllati and Dr. Florian Seidl – two entrepreneurs with many years of experience in industrial automation and C-parts logistics. With their entrepreneurial foresight and market knowledge, they are driving the development of innovative inspection technologies and shaping the future of quality management with MEXS 400.

Plug & Work

The conventional plate becomes an oval transport section and the familiar permanently installed test stations become individual, flexible modules: Modules that can be inserted into the system at any time, automatically log into the system and expand the function of the system in the shortest possible time or solve a changed task. For example, if you are now working on a batch with eddy current crack detection and optical head and shaft, the flexible and modular design allows you to work with a new constellation just minutes later – e.g. with a second optical module or a microstructure test. By inserting the mobile, intelligent module, the machine adapts to your tasks.

Modules & testing technologies

Modularity means: maximum flexibility without downtime

Technological highlights

If a module fails, production can be restarted immediately by simply replacing it. This means that, for the first time, repairs can be carried out outside the production process. If things need to be done really quickly: We keep standard modules in stock.

Thanks to the modular design of the MEXS 400 and the uncomplicated exchange of modules, it is possible to change over to any number of products within a short space of time. Long downtimes are therefore a thing of the past. As a result, it is also possible to react better to small batch sizes and offer them at a lower price.
The material is fed into the transport system via a newly designed transfer station. Feeding on a continuous level from the guide rail to the transport system eliminates bottlenecks in the parts flow. Adjustment work with “fingertip feeling” on the feed rail with all the associated disadvantages is a thing of the past.

By separating the transport and measuring systems, LAW NDT is breaking new ground. Previous machines were completely developed and built for the materials to be tested. If the product was discontinued, the machines had to be extensively rebuilt. The MEXS 400 is different. If the testing tasks change in the future, you can simply convert the MEXS to the current task outside the ongoing process by changing the module arrangement.

Testing more than one product in a single pass is no longer a dream of the future. Thanks to the modular design and the separation between material transport and measuring system, it is now possible for the first time to test several products of a product group simultaneously in one process.

On customer request, we can supply a complete package for internal data processing. Preventive maintenance – act instead of react and thus control production safely and with foresight. A complete overview of the status of the machine and the production results is available up to the minute.

Test stations & modules

For the detection of cracks, overlaps, notches, surface defects, etc., eddy current testing technology is the first choice. LAW NDT offers both the use of in-house, robust analog devices, as well as modern digital variants for use in the testing systems.

For test criteria such as material mix-up or different hardening depths, the high throughput speed is ideal for economical sorting of screws, balls, needles, shafts, etc.
For testing heat treatment, material mixing and hardness on finished parts made of aluminum, copper, bronze and other non-ferrous metals including LiAI alloys.

Dimensional inspection to determine e.g. length, height, width, diameter, straightness, etc. Depending on the customer’s wishes and test part requirements, various superstructures and manufacturers can be offered

Test station with comparative procedures for testing contours, coatings, color recognition, assembly testing, etc., also available as a 360° setup.
Combines various rules and procedures for dimensional and comparative inspection and uses AI to provide new and reliable inspection and evaluation options, e.g. in the areas of defect detection, contour inspection, identification/OCR, assembly inspection, etc.
Concurrent impact test as a tactile method, using a test specimen, both on the inside and outside of screws, bolts, etc.
